Abram Hoffer (November 11, 1917 – May 27, 2009) was a Canadian biochemist, physician and psychiatrist who developed the orthomolecular approach to the treatment of schizophrenia and other diseases. It includes a megavitamin therapy and nutritional interventions. Hoffer discovered that high dose niacin can be used to treat high cholesterol.
